Built on Faith

Our Core Values

Gospel Centrality:

  1. Centered on the Gospel - The gospel is both the A-B-Cs and the A-to-Z of Christianity. We will never move beyond the gospel - salvation by grace through faith in Jesus. At City Church, the gospel is our central value because it alone has the power to affect every aspect of our lives, communities, and world.

  2. Rooted in Scripture - We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. We want to be a church where God's Word is treasured, believed, and obeyed.

  3. Prayerfully Dependent – We are a church that prays. Prayer nourishes the relationship we have with God in Christ, and draws us closer to him. Prayer humbly affirms that there is nothing we can do apart from Christ.

Gospel Transformation:

  1. Transformed Lives - We believe the gospel is not only a message for unbelievers to come to salvation, but a message for believers also—that believing, understanding, rejoicing in and practicing the gospel more deeply is the main way believers overcome flaws and problems and grow into Christ-likeness. The gospel changes us from the inside out, freeing us from both self-righteousness and self-condemnation, enabling us to welcome all people.

  2. Transformed Communities – Life change rarely happens alone; it happens with friends and community. At City, we want to help you understand how the gospel can shape every area of personal and communal life, including identity, family and relationships, church and mission, work and rest, and neighborhood and justice.

Gospel Witnessing:

  1. Missions - The gospel is the best news that is meant to be shared. We believe that God has called us to be living witnesses of the life-transforming power of the gospel to our city, our nation, and to the ends of the earth. We are firmly committed to supporting missionaries and organizations that align with our convictions.

  2. Mercy and Justice - Mercy and justice for the poor and marginalized are at the center of God’s heart. And although we want everyone to know Jesus as their Savior, we are called to share God’s love, compassion, and generosity in both our words and actions. Therefore, our church resolves to follow Jesus by loving, serving, and supporting the disadvantaged in our city.
