Aloha City Church Family,

We’ve been monitoring the weather conditions closely throughout the night, and we have decided that we will no longer be gathering for an in-person worship service this morning.

With power outages in the Nuʻuanu area and hazardous driving conditions in parts of the island, we believe it is wisest for us to worship safely from home today.

Instead, please join us in worshiping together this Lord’s Day through our pre-recorded worship service. We encourage you to gather with your family or household, open your Bibles, and set aside this time to worship the Lord together.

While we are disappointed that we cannot gather in person, we are thankful that we can still worship our Lord together, even from our homes. We pray that you and your loved ones remain safe, and we look forward to gathering together again soon.

You’re welcome to worship with us at 10:00 a.m., alongside those gathering in person, or participate at another time that is convenient for you.

However and wherever you worship tomorrow, we encourage you to set aside this Lord’s Day to worship Him and rejoice in His goodness. Though we may not all be gathered in the same place, we are grateful to worship the same faithful God together.

Aloha City Church Family,

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we’ve continued to monitor the weather and make plans for Sunday. We’ve been monitoring the weather closely and wanted to share an update about our plans for worship tomorrow.

Given the unusual weather this weekend, we will have two ways for you to participate in Sunday worship:

1. Worship in-person as usual
We will hold our Sunday worship service at our normal time and location. However, please note that there will be no Sunday Seminar, keiki class/nursery, and we will postpone our congregational meeting to next Sunday, August 23, after service.

2. Worship from home
We have pre-recorded a modified worship service and will share a link to the video recording in a separate email. The video will also be available on the Weather Updates page of our website. We’ll also include a link to Sunday’s bulletin, which includes the worship lyrics and responsive reading, so you can participate in the service from home.

Tomorrow is the Lord’s Day, and we look forward to worshiping Him together—whatever that looks like. Whether you join us in person or worship from home, we encourage you to set aside this Lord’s Day to worship Him and rejoice in His goodness.

Aloha City Church Ohana,

We are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Lala and its potential impact on the islands this weekend. As of the 5:00 a.m. update this morning, Oʻahu is now under a Tropical Storm Watch, with potential impacts expected on Sunday.

There is still some uncertainty about exactly what conditions Oʻahu may experience. With about two days before the storm reaches our area, even relatively small changes in Lala’s track, strength, or wind field could make conditions on Oʻahu considerably better or worse. We will be closely monitoring the forecasts and weather conditions throughout the weekend.

For now, our plan is to meet in person for our regular Sunday service. At the same time, we are making parallel plans in case conditions change and gathering in person is no longer safe. If needed, we may transition to a pre-recorded service that will be shared with the congregation by email and on our website.

For now, we look forward to seeing you in person this Sunday! If there are any changes to our plans, we will communicate them by email and post updates on our website.

Until then, we’re praying for safety for our islands, church family and community. Whatever this weekend brings, we can trust in God’s faithful presence.

P.S. Congregational Meeting: If we are able to meet in person this Sunday, we will hold our congregational meeting as planned immediately following the service. We encourage all members to attend as the purpose of this meeting is to conduct elder confirmation voting for Ryan Toma and Elliot Meijer. If we need to modify our worship service due to the weather, we will postpone the congregational meeting to Sunday, August 23, following the service. We’ll communicate any changes to our plans by email and on our website.
